Lettuce be Thankful

Let us be thankful that we can enjoy local produce. You may wonder why local produce is so expensive. Well, it is labor intensive, they're fighting the elements, draught or too much rain, and in the blink of an eye, rabbits, groundhogs and raccoons could destroy your entire crop. Let us be thankful that someone else is doing all the work and we can walk to the market, put it in our basket and be done with it. I took this picture around 6:30 p.m. and these folks were still working hard. I like this picture because it shows where they've weeded recently (dark soil) and what they still need to do (green patches across rows). I can empathize with this back breaking work as I weeded, pruned, trimmed and edged all day myself.

Hard work but worth the effort.

You are right about the effort required to bring home the bacon...er, crops!

But, wow, the payoff!

Nice photo!

I like this shot, the contrast of market and field and the weeded and un-weeded areas. I guess we would waste less if we all had to put in this effort.
