Patriots' Day is a civic holiday in Massachusetts and Maine, commemorating the Battles of Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775. Even though the day is celebrated on the Monday closest to the 19th, Sudbury stays true to the day and the members of the Sudbury Fyfe and Drum faithfully march on that day from Sudbury to Concord. Some of these reenactors have been at this for 45 years since this tradtion began. Our home is along the route and every year we are awakened by the muskets and the fyfe and drum when they are about a mile away. Then we run out to watch them.

I miss following them! I do not, however, miss forgetting this was happening and waking up to gunshots! Very nice photos.
That is such a neat tradition. Our tradition here is...wait, we have no traditions here.
This is wonderful reenactment, I love these historical days. Great shots.
If the Minutemen were as ragtag a bunch as this group, it's amazing they did anything!
But, you know what, they probably were.
What a bunch of neat photos!
Glad to see a few youngsters keeping up the tradition. Looks like hard work for all.
I think these events are really thrilling.
