Last of the Mums

The staging grounds for Cavicchio Nursery as seen from Confidence Way off Concord Road, has been cleared of almost all of their fall mums. Only a few remain, contrasting with the fall colors.

Cavicchios has come a long way since 1910 when Cavita and Guiseppe Cavicchio came from Italy to start a family farm in Sudbury. After their apple farm was leveled in the hurricane of 1938, they began selling vegetables and bedding plants. The rest is history. Their massive 200 acre operation brings a lot of color to Sudbury throughout the year.

I'm still coming to grips with the reference to a hurricane. I thought we held title to that distinction.

Nice to read about the local history, and I really like the mix of colors here.

What a combo shot! The sky, THE TREES, and the mums... a real fall spectacular.
