Up from the Ashes

A year ago this weekend, the Verrill Farm farm stand was destroyed by an electrical fire. The before and after pictures of the fire were among my first posts on Sudbury Daily Photo. This weekend, the new and greatly improved farm stand was reopened.

I was thrilled to see the weathervane atop the new building. I'm not sure, but to me it looks like the owner, Steve Verrill, portrayed as Concord's Minuteman. Best wishes for continued success and more of your delicious pies, not to mention your fresh produce.

I love that place. Especially at this time of year.

This is wonderful! A beautiful building...sometimes, what rises from the ashes is far superior to what was there before.

Like the weather vane, too. Creative.

Checked the old photos, really a bad fire. They did a good work rebuilding and I think Mr Steve deserves his place on the weather vane.

The new place looks great. How nice to have a place to buy good pies! I cannot say that there are any here that make really good pies. (We were so silly and looked for a restaurant that served apple pie on Maui a few yrs back. We found it at an Italian restaurant close to the airport, before our flt home - and it was actually pretty decent.)

My husband will tell you he misses Marie Calander pies. Also, have you ever been down to Vickman's in LA in the produce district? I still have silver pie pans from them.
