My quiet Sunday was disturbed by the sound of State Police helicopters hovering overhead. They circled for awhile, left, but soon returned. Curiosity got the better of me and I decided to track down the cause of this commotion. I followed the police cars and helicopters to a local soccer field.

Here I discovered that an elderly gentleman with Alzheimer's had wandered into the woods and had gone missing. The pilot touched base with police from both Sudbury and Concord, and then raced back to his chopper.
I returned home and the helicopters continued to circle for another hour. I hope the gentleman was found safe and sound. I will keep you posted.
Update: There was nothing in today's paper or on the local TV news so I am assuming that the man was found unharmed.

Hopefully this story has a happy ending. Nice to see police resources used for a purpose other than crime.
Nice to see they are being put to good use.
Good use for technology, hope they found the poor guy in good shape. Very nice shots!
I find police helicopters overhead to always be a bit disconcerting and I always wonder if they're looking for some bad guy hiding in our yard!
Nice action shots, Antjas!
Jacob, a bad guy was my first thought, but my CDP alter ego got the better of me. I did pick up a large rock as I ventured out of my yard, but it probably wouldn't have done me much good if it really were an escaped criminal.
Perhaps the helicopter is equipped with an infra-red camera,so it can pick up the body heat.
