It's time for strawberries and we're lucky to have several pick-your-own fields nearby. Yes, they are even pricier than pricey, but these babies are packed with flavor, not like those from the large producers who breed for size not flavor. I'll probably only buy a quart or two or maybe even pick them myself. My first paying job ever was picking strawberries for which I got paid a quarter for every quart I picked. I think I ate more than I picked.
I can appreciate the hardships of small local farmers, as the groundhogs leveled my garden this week, including my own strawberries.

What a yummmmy shot!
Looks yummy. Unfortunately the Swedish strawberries aren't ready yet, due to the crappy weather.
Worth every penny! Nuke the groundhogs.
THey look fresh and yummy ...! Strawberry is one of my favorite fruits.
Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog the other day Antjas.

Those look so good. I never mind paying a little more if it is worth it...I get really disgusted buying fruits and veggies - strawberries and tomatoes especially - a supermarket and find them inedible when I get home.
But these? Scrumptious!
This is the wonderful season of the red fruit: strawberry, cherries and watermelon!
Your baskets look so yummy that I can understand the groundhogs.
Pretty hard to get a "true" tasting strawberry - worth every penny. I'm so sorry about the groundhogs' damage...I know it's a lot of labor and love that went into the garden.
