And I on the opposite shore will be,
Ready to ride and spread the alarm
Through every Middlesex, village and farm,
For the country folk to be up and to arm.
Paul Revere's Ride by, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
Nowadays if you want to visit the Old North Bridge you don't have to wait for the alarm to be sounded or Paul Revere. But, you can come by land or water.

This is where Paul Revere rode? I have to ask. I'm familiar with the story, but not the location.
Anyway, this is a lovely scene.
Hilda, good question. Paul Revere was on his way to this area (Middlesex County) to warn the locals that the British were coming. He was stopped before he made it but two other men continued the ride and saved the day (they were not lucky enough to be immortalized in poetry as was Revere). This spot is where the "ride" culminated and "the shot heard around the world" was fired. You can see a reenactment here.
Very nicely done! Been there once a long time ago...don't remember much...this is a good visual aid...
Great piece of history remembered so nicely and without much pump. Delightful spot, a pity for the unknown riders.
