I've never been a part of Monochrome Monday, but these beehives begged to be monochrome. I grew up with hives in my backyard so maybe nostalgia comes in sepia.

I agree-monochrome fits it perfectly... it gives it a very old and dreamlike quietness...
this looks like an old farmhouse...
Terrific photo - I agree that is allows the viewer to focus on the content and is perfect for monochrome. My grandmother in Pula kept bees and I had to eat a spoonful of honey every morning (I didn't like it much then and still don't) but I do like bees and the look/smell of honey. Was your dad the beekeeper?
This tugs at my heartstrings.
