"Birth"day Violet

This violet is 22 years old today. It was a gift on the birth of my daughter. Happy Birthday Kiddo and Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Wow, that's got to be a record. My Mum had a geranium from me once, I think it lived a fairly happy life in the kitchen for something like 16 years!
And happy birthday to your daughter!

This reminds me so much of my mother. She always had many of these in her home. Tell your daughter Happy Birthday from someone else who has a birthday today.

Happy Birthday to your violet and to your daughter!!

Your violet here makes me jealous...mine never are so vibrantly green, and the one I rescued when my mother-in-law passed away (she was GREAT with plants) has come back to life, but it has not bloomed since. Suggestions?

CDQ - So sweet of you to give your mom a geranium. We moms have a way of holding on to those special things. I have a 16 year old geranium that someone gave me when wee moved into our present home.

Bibi - thanks. I have one that has almost twice as many blooms, but it has no significance to today. Neglect works best for me and when I see them on death's door step, I add water and keep my fingers crossed. Honestly, I try to water once a week, avoiding the leaves and not a soaker. I also keep mine in a north facing window. If I remember, I might give them fertilizer, but that's asking too much from me.

BS - Once again, happy, happy!!

Can't believe one little plant can live that long. You must have given it a lot of TLC.
