I have passed by this house in Concord many times but never noticed how massive this tree was. It is near the Old North Bridge, the site of the first battle of the American Revolutionary War. I wonder if it was just a sapling when the Minutemen and the British Army marched by. Perhaps a silent witness to history.

It is an impressive tree. Wouldn't it be amazing yet scary if trees could talk?
Hi, Antjas.
I love this region of Mass, we visited there about 15 years ago - if I were to live back East and had my pick, this would be it. The houses in the trees are magnificent as seen on this photo.
It's wonderful that you remember the scent of wild violets and cyclamens.
I also remember the taste of my mom's "torta" from chocolate and walnuts (with flour). She hasn't made it in years, but your beautiful spread & your cake for your bookclub brought back the memories.
What a wonderful house...I think you're right about the tree. And that stone fence makes me tingle with envy.
