This is a shot by my father-in-law's abandoned potting shed. He, like my mother, would use old windowpanes as the lids for their coldframes where they would start seedlings in the early spring. Every morning they would prop open the glass to give the plants fresh air and close them up again at night to save them from the freezing temperatures. They both had huge gardens and seeing their coldframes was as welcome a sight in spring as seeing the first robins. This photo was taken in Pittsburgh a few weeks ago where we celebrated my mother-in-law's 95th birthday.

A beautiful choice for today. Funnily enough I had something very similar for Menton but posted something else instead. Your photograph is beautiful. Lovely old panes of glass.
Excellent choice and great photo, soft and muted.
A very real choice is what I see.
A unique choice for the theme day.
I love the story behind this photo! Thank you for sharing. Oh how wonderful it would be to have a Pittsburgh Daily Photo!
this is a very nice composition for theme day. The photo speaks loudly in many ways
Very interesting. A delightful photograph.
I like all of the squares in this photo.
Greensboro Daily, I felt odd posting a photo from another town, but since there isn't a Pittsburgh Daily Photo and there definitely should be one, I thought a little exposure wouldn't hurt.
I like this! This is something I had not really noticed before, but what an important part of Giddo's glorious garden. Thank you for sharing your photos!
